Three youths were detained to assist police into their investigations involving the assault of a 16-year-old boy last Friday.

It is learnt that prior to the assault, the victim was waiting for his friends along Jalan Sutera Tanjunbg 8/3 in Taman Ungku Aminah, Johor Bahru about 3.50pm.

Police said the victim was then approached by a group of men who then beat him up and left him at a palm oil plantation in Senai.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was likely beaten up because he had refused to become part of Geng 265 and 21.

The victim was apparently badly beaten and suffered injuries to his head and suffered broken fingers in both hands.

Police then launched a manhunt for the suspects and detained three, aged 16 - 18 in Kulai and Skudai.

The suspects have since been taken to the Kulai police station, while police are still looking for other suspects involved in the case.
