A pregnant woman was traumatised after she fell victim to a motorcylist's road rage after being involved in a car accident at Lebuh Kampung Jawa, Bayan Lepas, Penang, on Thursday morning.

The suspect went berserk by initially shouting at her before proceeding to smash her car's windscreen using his helmet and hammer in the 8.42am incident which went viral on social media after it was recorded by a member of the public.

According to the New Straits Times, the incident happened when the 27-year-old woman, who is five months pregnant, was on her way to drop off her sister at her workplace.

A source said the woman had slowed down her car to turn to the right but the motorcyclist hit the front left side of the car.

“When the woman said she wanted to lodge a police report about the incident, the man became angry and started to smash her car’s windscreen,” the source added.

A police report has been lodged in relation to the incident.

Southwest district police chief Superintendent A. Anbalagan said that the 31-year-old motorcyclist had been arrested to assist in investigation.

“Checks showed the man has past criminal records and was involved in drugs.

“He was also tested positive for drugs and we have seized the helmet and the hammer,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.
