A powerbank left in a car exploded, destroying parts of the car during an incident in Kangar at 11.45am recently.

A witness said he spotted the interior of the car filled with smoke and when he looked in, he noticed the powerbank on the front seat on fire.

With the help of others, they managed to put out the fire by splashing in water from a small opening in the window.

Fire and Rescue Services Department personnel who arrived soon after said about 10 per cent of the car was damaged and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
