Navy personnel on joint patrols managed to detain three foreigners who were catching and killing turtles near Pulau Ligitan in Semporna this morning.

Following a tip-off and surveillance, the navy moved in to nab the three suspects.

The trio aged between 25-45 years old were detained about 4.30am.

Investigations found six turtle shells on board their vessel.

The suspects were then handed over to the Semporna Marine Police for further action.
