A 36-year-old delivery man jumped to his death from the Central Plaza in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, allegedly because he could not repay his debts.

According to reports in the Chinese press, the man worked for a company located just across Central Plaza.

He was found dead about 6pm on Thursday.

His friends said the man had not shown any signs of despair prior to his suicide and appeared fine.

Police said the man, from Negeri Sembilan is believed to have taken his own life due to mounting debts.

He had also reportedly applied for numerous personal loans since he moved to Kuala Lumpur.

His body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem and police have ruled it as sudden death.
