Once again our dear firemen and firewomen went beyond their call of duty to help someone in need.

This time they managed to coax a 22-year-old woman against taking her own life in Johor Bahru.

The incident unfolded at the 11th floor of the Melana Flats, Block Nuri in Taman Sutera about noon recently.

The woman was successfully prevented from jumping off the ledge by two female personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department before she was handed over to the police.

Firemen were called in when residents saw the woman on the ledge.

Upon arrival, the personnel went up to the floor concerned and managed to talk the woman into aborting her plans.

Well done once again to our men and women firefighters.
