A husband and wife were found dead in their rented room along Jalan Pokok Machang in Tasek Gelugor, yesterday.

According to reports, the landlady found the man, 31, hanged while the 27-year-old woman was sprawled on her bed, covered in blood.

The landlady, M. Nirmala Devi, 30, said she knew the couple for the last two years and they had rented the room about a month ago.

She said she had last seen the wife on Sunday morning and the husband in the evening.

"We had also recently gone out to dinner and everything appeared normal," she said.

Police said the man was a lorry attendant, while the woman was a factory operator.

"We found no criminal elements and have classified the case as sudden death," said police.
