HATS off to our policemen and soldiers.

A police officer who saved a stray puppy trapped in a monsoon drain next to a roadblock has won the hearts of Malaysians after a one-minute video of the rescue made its rounds on social media.

In the video, the unnamed police officer was seen inside the monsoon drain as he attempted to gain the trust of the terrified and anxious black puppy, which was straying further into the drain.

Two other stray dogs, believed to be the puppy’s parents, observed the police’s “operation” from above the monsoon drain.

It didn’t take long for trust to be gained, as the police officer gently patted the puppy on its head before carrying it back to surface to reunite it with its parents, who were seen wagging their tails in gratitude.

As the police officer climbed out of the drain, the two stray dogs and puppy were seen approaching him, wagging their tails.

The incident was believed to have taken place at a monsoon drain next to a roadblock manned by police officers and the Armed Forces.

The video, uploaded on Facebook by Ezam Bin Ramli on Facebook on Thursday (April 9), has since garnered over 114,000 views and almost 9,000 shares within three hours.

“He’s not only a frontliner to humans. Even though it’s just a puppy, but it is still Allah’s creation. Just look at how the puppy’s guardians are thanking him, ” said Ezam.

The Star has reached to Ezam, but has got no response yet.

Malaysians on social media were mostly touched by the video and sang praises at the police officer’s selfless gesture.
