A TRAFFIC policeman was forced to fire two shots at the front right side tyre of a Nissan Teana after the driver refused to stop despite numerous attempts.

The incident unfolded about 4.30pm on Monday when Corporal Saiful Azuwan Mohamad was on duty along Jalan Genting Klang, in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

He noticed the car, registration number JPY 2769 with two men inside driving recklessly.

He tried to get the driver to stop, but the driver instead sped off towards Jalan Gombak which was congested.

Along the congested stretch, the policeman got off his motorcycle and went towards the car and asked the driver again to stop.

According to, he also knocked the door when the driver attempted to run him down.

The policeman then fired two shots at the tyre. The driver still managed to speed off towards the Duke Highway and the car was later found abandoned near the middle divider of the highway.

The suspects had fled and checks later revealed there was a packet of drugs, believed to be syabu in the car.

Investigations are ongoing.
