A man was brutally beaten up apparently over some custodial rights following a divorce with his wife.

The incident is reported to have occurred in front of a restaurant in Salak South, Kuala Lumpur last Friday night.

Among those allegedly involved in the beating was the ex-wife's brother.

A video recording gone viral shows the victim lying on the ground being beaten by the group using chairs and also a table.

Brickfields police chief, ACP Ruslan Khalid said police have since nabbed two men aged 26 and 40-years-old from Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

"The incident occurred in Taman Salak Selatan. The victim was apparently unhappy over some custodial rights following his divorce.

"He had an argument with his ex-wife and brother in law who was also there," he said.

Others who were also friends of the suspect were also involved in the incident.

The victim suffered bruises all over his body following the incident and was treated at a nearby hospital.
