Action will be taken against a cop who was caught smoking recently at a food outlet.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, drawing all kinds of reactions from netizens.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said a directive has been given to the head of the department in question to identify the officer for action to be taken.

"He is a uniformed officer and the government has already enforced the smoking ban. The ban must be followed by all including officers and personnel of the police force.

"It is highly unethical if they break the law which is doing it (smoking) in an open area (food premises) right now," he said at a press conference at the Johor contingent police headquarters.
