It is time the Health Ministry conduct a detailed investigation into the plight of housemen which has since gone unnoticed.

Apart from what was exposed recently about the physical abuses, we are also subject to other kinds of abuses, like working long hours and on random shifts.

At times, we are asked to do the late shift and then the next day the 7am shift.

This is not only taking a toll on our health, but also placing patients under risk as many of us are simply too tired out.

Also, many of us do not even have time for a proper lunch break or any time to rest.

We are not slaves and are entitled to our rights.

The reason we are placed under housemanship is to learn from the senior doctors, not to be their slaves and to abused.

I really urge the Health Ministry to conduct a detailed investigation and to also provide us a platform where we are able to voice our problems without fear.
