Claims have surfaced that residents at an old folks home in Seremban were mistreated and manhandled over the last two years.

Apparently, it was learnt that residents at the private home were not given their meals on time and locked in their rooms for hours by a female supervisor.

A team from the Welfare Department had since visited the home after allegations went viral on social media.

An individual, who took to Facebook, also alleged that the residents were forced to drink urine and given more than the prescribed sleeping pills.

However, the cause of deaths were usually attributed to old age.

Several pictures of the allegedly abused residents were also viralled.

It is learnt that a family member of one of the victims had lodged a report on the matter.

Checks by The Star showed that the individual who made the allegations via Facebook has shut down his/her account.

The Welfare Department is expected to issue a statement on the matter once it wraps up investigations.
