Some restaurant owners are really facing an uphill task enforcing the no smoking ban at their premises.

Recently, we read about how a worker at a mamak restaurant was slapped for reminding a customer of the ban, and now, even women are not spared.

According to reports in the Chinese media, few men were eating and drinking at a stall in Kepong and happily smoking away.

When the owner and a worker went over to remind them of the ban, they simply ignored it and continued puffing.

After a while, another worker with the owner went over to remind them again and an argument followed.

At that point one of the smokers picked up a wooden stick and beat one of the female workers.

The worker suffered bruises and her arms and back as a result.

The men even warned the owner that they would use their car to wreck the stall later.

The owner has since lodged a police report and hope the culprits are nabbed soon.
