With the situation in Pasir Gudang yet to be resolved and more people falling sick daily, reports have since emerged of another chemical dumping situation in the Klang River.

Several unknown chemical substances were believed to have been dumped at a nearby pond and flowed into the river.

According to Datuk Hashim Osman, who is the Selangor Water Management (Luas) director, they had received complaints from nearby residents.

"We have taken samples for analysis and are working with the Department of Environment (DOE) and Klang City Council to resolve the matter and nab those responsible," he said.

He assured the public that their water supply was not affected as the pollution was only at the downstream of the river.

However, he said, depending on the kind of waste dumped, it could affect aquatic animals living in the river.

Hope the authorities can resolve this and nab those responsible soon.
