Ladies please be extra alert.

On January 7, a 31-year-old Pakistan national pretended to be a Grab driver and apparently almost raped a woman in Johor Bahru.

The Chinese media reported that fortunately, the suspect was nabbed several hours after the attempted rape.

He had since admitted to committing the act and is currently under remand.

The incident unfolded when the 23-year-old victim booked a Grab ride from Jalan Yahya Awal to Larkin.

She then received a notification from the driver that he had arrived and without checking the car model or registration plate, she got into a car which was at the said location.

She was supposed to get into a Perodua Bezza, but she instead got into a Proton Gen2.

Police said the suspect then decided to impersonate the driver and drove off before the victim realised her mistake.

After making several rounds in the area, the suspect then moved to the back seat and slapped the woman for trying to escape.

The victim struggled free but fell on the road.

Police said the suspect managed to pull down the victim's pants and even ejaculated, but the victim believes there was no penetration as she did not feel anything.

The suspect then left the victim on the road and fled.

The victim managed to stop a car and lodged a report at the Larkin police station.

She was then sent to the Hospital for further treatment.

Police have since seized the Gen2, a mobile phone, black t-shirt, a pair of jeans and a bunch of keys from the suspect.

So ladies, please be careful and pay attention to which car you get into.

Also, it is crucial to check the registration plate before you get into the car.
