Following the violent robbery on Valentine's Day, RapidKL has since stepped up security to ensure the safety of passengers.

Passengers can in fact now request a staff member to escort them to their car.

Prasarana Malaysia Berhar, the operator of RapidKL, said those who required such assistance can inform the customer service counters at any MRT, LRT, Monorail or BRT stations.

Also, as an added precautions, CCTV visuals from within the elevator will be displayed directly to the staff on duty, while members of the Special Action Force (SAT) have been added to several hotspots.

The SAT team is a special unit set up by the Prasarana Securities Department and are clad in plainclothes when patrolling.

On our part, we have  been advised to be alert in public spaces, including avoiding quiet routes.

Unfortunately, to date, the suspect has been to be nabbed and police are still looking for him.

Women must be extra careful and never enter a lift with a stranger, no matter what.

Never trust anyone, no matter how "decent" or well-dressed the person may be.

Perverts and robbers come in all shapes and sizes.
