The Social Security Organisation (Socso) has revealed that a factory operating in Bukit Rambai, Malacca had not been making contributions despite deducting the salaries of their employees every month.

Fortunate for Sykira Syzlin Mat Ali, 22, who suffered 52 per cent burns in a fire on Feb 23, Socso has agreed to bear her entire treatment cost.

Socso will also be taking legal action against the factory concerned for not making the due payments.

It was also discovered that the factory which manufactured electronic components did not follow the set safety requirements and could face legal action.

Apparently, the management turned a blind eye following the incident and lucky for the victim, Socso stepped in to assist her.

Without Socso's assistance, the victim would surely be faced with a huge burden of having to cope with her medical expenses.

It is important for us, as employees to ensure our employers actually make the required payments.

One can easily check this by contacting Socso - it is best not to take anything for granted.
