A 90-second video posted on the Malaysia Animal Association shows a man brutally hitting his dog at an indisclosed location in Malaysia.

Apparently the person recording the incident does not know where to lodge a report.

According to the MAA, a report can be lodged at [email protected]

My concern is to what extent will this report actually be acted upon?

I am sure the department of veterinary services receives tonnes of e-mails daily and I wonder how many will be attended to.

The problem here in Malaysia is that cruelty towards animals is taken lightly and there are insufficient avnues for one to lodge reports.

The authorities should make it easier for the public to make such complaints and they must make it a point to nab those responsible.

The media on their part must highlight such cases to shame those responsible and also to create a greater awareness.

Anyone who has any details of the this incident, kindly contact any private animal welfare society or in any case, please do try the DVS.
