Two more chiefs feel humiliated, angry

MIRI: The controversial SPDP Beluru line-up suffered another knock as two more Iban longhouse chiefs stepped forward yesterday claiming they had been appointed without their knowledge and consent, and thus decided to categorically reject it.

Tuai Rumah Aji Eyang of Selepin Baroh and his counterpart Ansoh Lagga said they shared the same fate as Sungai Kelabit Baroh longhouse chief Adin Jamban who had earlier slammed his appointment and regarded it as an embarrassment and an affront to his integrity.

“Our sentiment and decision are the same as that of Tuai Rumah Adin,” they said during a meeting of longhouse chieftains at BN Club office in Beluru yesterday.

The meeting focused on their unease with SPDP’s party function at Rumah Morgan in Sungai Nipa last Saturday.

Adin had blown his top when his name was included in the SPDP Beluru branch list of office bearers, saying it was an affront to him as a hardcore supporter of Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran — Marudi assemblyman and Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Water Supplies).

He categorically rejected the appointment, saying if it was valid he would resign with immediate effect as he felt humiliated.

Adin, when met in Beluru yesterday, said he was still sore over what had happened.
