KUCHING: Wanita SPDP Opar does not believe that the controversial Mas Gading parliamentary seat will not be given to SPDP in the coming 13th general election.
“Mas Gading belongs to SPDP and there’s no way anyone can take it away from us. We are not going to let go of the seat … definitely not,” its chief Lancia Tasing said in response to speculations that BN would re-nominate Mas Gading MP Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe, possibly as a direct BN candidate as he is now partyless after being sacked from SPDP recently.
Other elected representatives who were also sacked from SPDP are assemblymen Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie (Tasik Biru), Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran (Marudi), Rosey Yunus (Bekenu) and Paulus Palu Ngumbang (Batu Danau).
Despite leaving the party, they declared that they were still very much with BN and would continue to serve their constituents. They subsequently formed the yet-to-be-registered BN Club.
Lancia said the fact that the five, whose moniker is G5, had declared that they were supporting BN did not necessary mean that they could be BN candidates.
“The seat (Mas Gading) had been allocated to SPDP and it should continue to remain as such,” she told a media conference at the party headquarters here yesterday.
She vowed that the wing would do everything it could to ensure that Mas Gading remained with the party.
“We are aware that the BN Club, or whatever club it may be, also wants the seat, but we are not scared of that because we are confident that the BN leaders will still allocate the seat to SPDP.”
SPDP Puteri chairperson Barbara Tan Sri William Mawan, who was also present, said Wanita, Pemuda, Putera and Puteri SPDP would go all out against any force trying to undermine the party.
