Woman worked as teacher for 12 years with fake ID

A female teacher who worked as a teacher for 12 years was sentenced to two years jail by the magistrate's court in Kota Kinabalu for using a false identification card.

Magistrate, Stephanie Sherron Abbie imposed the sentence after Asni Ismail, 39, pleaded guilty under Section 25(1) of the National Registration Regulations 1990.

The accused was found guilty of using identification card number 780331-12-5186 at SK Kinarasan Ranau on Nov 6.

According to the facts of the case, a complaint was made at the National Registration Department (Ranau) and the matter was then refered to the department's investigations and enforcement unit.

The court ruled that the accused begin her sentence from the date of her arrest.

Following her jail term, the accused will be refered to the Immigration Department for further action.
