Two burnt to death in Pontian accident

Two people were burnt to death while two others were injured in a two-car collision at Km 51 of Jalan Johor Baru-Batu Pahat near Pontian yesterday.

The charred remains of the deceased have yet to be identified, Bernama reported.

The midnight incident occurred when a Toyota Wish rammed a Toyota Corona, causing both vehicles to burst into flames.

"The (bodies) of the Toyota Wish driver and passenger have yet to be identified.

“The injured victims are the Toyota Corona driver, Ho Ei Fong, 20 and passenger Lee Zhong Jin, 21. Both are from Pekan Nenas, Pontian," Pontian police chief Supt Zakaria Abd Rahman said.

He added that the driver of the Toyota Wish, who was travelling from Pontian to Pekan Nenas, is believed to have lost control of the vehicle and veered into the opposite lane, before crashing into the oncoming Toyota Corona.
