A decision to sleep on the road proved fatal for an allegedly drunk man when a vehicle ran over him at the town of Inanam, Sabah on Sunday night.

According to The Star, victim Candok Talib, 51, was killed instantly following the incident near the Inanam night market.

Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP M. Chandra said the 53-year-old female driver of the car failed to realise that the man was lying down on the road when she ran over him.

Stating that the man initially planned to cross the road, Chandra said he then decided to sleep on it instead.

"We believe that he was under the influence of alcohol," he said, adding that police investigations were still ongoing.
