Recently, a father is believed to have taken his life and that of his family's over an alleged problem with loansharks.

The incident is Johor was shocking, but the sad truth that is affecting many families in the country these days.

The economic situation and the stringent rules imposed by banks has driven many to turn to illegal loansharks for assistance.

In this kind of situation, it is hard to point the blame to anyone.

The loansharks warn the borrowers earlier of the high interest rates, and when they fail to pay, of course the loan sharks are going to harass their victims.

At the same time, the banks also refuse to budge and insist on their payments.

This kind of situation leaves us, the victims nowhere to turn to and when the pressure gets too much to bear, the victims crumble.

The poor economy is seriously "killing" the rakyat and day by day, we have nowhere to turn.

In desperation, some turn to illegal loan sharks, some to crime and others even suicide.

This is the sad truth of what has become of our country and as long as there is demand, these illegal loansharks will continue thriving.
