So, this is the norm in Malaysia I guess...

When an old man falls down, everyone watches ... no one helps.

This is exactly what happened at the bus stop in Subang Jaya recently when an old man carrying his day's marketing tripped and fell - right in front of a dozen people.

However, nobody rushed to assist him and everyone looked at each other hoping the other would go.

I could not rush to his aid immediately as I was holding my baby.

However, I still did my best to assist him and finally, after noticing the difficulty I was facing, two others from the bus stop came to help.

Luckily the old man was not injured and after thanking us, got on a bus and went on his way.

I guess the lesson to be leant here is not to be too concerned about what others think - it is about who you are and doing what is right.

Always remember, this is something that could one day happen to you or any of your family members. One good turn always deserves another!
