Many of us rely on online portals to make all our holiday bookings - right from flight tickets to hotel rooms and so on.

However, recently a Facebook user, Xavier Aranggoi Maurice lost RM4,878 after he was scammed while making reservations via booking.com

Apparently, the place he booked in Korea called Myeong-Dong Cynosure Stido Hotel did not even exist!

From his conversation with the so-called owners, he made all payments online as directed and in the end received a mail from booking.com stating that his booking was cancelled.

He then tried to contact the person he was speaking to via WhatsApp but was unsuccessful.

According to his post, he was scammed and the mistake he made was that he did not do any checks on the property concerned.

So folks, the next time you make any such bookings, go the extra mile to ensure the property exists in the first place.
