Can operators of private clinics, especially those operating 24 hours, be more concerned about their doctors on duty?

Are these doctors getting enough rest before they start their shifts?

I have noticed some very grumpy and tired looking doctors on duty of late and from what I have learnt they are employed there on a part-time basis.

They have full-time jobs as medical officers at government hospitals and do part-time consultation in private clinics because the money is good.

Which is fine by me.  The question is are they really of fresh mind and body to examine patients, especially after a hard’s day work at the hospital?

And we all know how overworked government hospitals doctors can be sometimes.

My friend had a bad experience lately at one of the same clinics I am referring to and he ended being prescribed wrong medication.

Luckily it wasn’t a bad allergy reaction.

He told me that the doctor on duty that night looked really sleepy and tired, and was not really in a good mood.

We have no problems with these doctors doing locum work as long as they are qualified doctors.

But it is a concern when they tend to patients when their minds and bodies are not alert enough to do the job.
