We have all heard of people who have committed suicide due to a host of reasons.

Some take their own lives because of failed relationships, other due to financial issues and mostly, such cases are driven by depression.

Recently, a teenage schoolgirl jumped to her death amd most recently, in Kinabatangan, two teenagers were found dead in their Perodua Myvi.

At first, villagers in Kampung Jaya Baru thought the duo were asleep, but on further inspection, the realised the boys were dead.

Police said they received a call about noon and when they arrived, they found the car engine still running and the car doors locked.

There were no injuries on the boys and no foul play was suspected.

I may be wrong, but it looks like another suicide case.

Like it or not, depression is among the most serious illnesses in the world today.

While many may not categorise in the same levels as cancer and heart diseases, it is nevertheless a silent and sure killer.

What most of us do not realise is depression can be treated and there are professionals who can help out.

If you know of someone who is suffering from depression, do not turn a blind eye - that person is a walking time bomb and could erupt at any time.

There are many avenues for us to seek help, the most easiest being the Befrienders.

Help is free and we should all do our part to reach out to those in need and not let them die in vain.
