Do not make yourself an open target

While nobody wants to be a robbery victim, we on our part must also play our roles and not present criminals an open opportunity to strike.

I have observed on many occasions how people, especially women tend to be totally oblivious to their surrounding and take things for granted.

One mistake which I commonly observe is how women tend to be so tied up with their mobile phones that they leave their handbags unattended.

Also many women walk with their handbags on the wrong side, giving snatch thieves the perfect opportunity to rob them.

Of course, the most vulnerable victim would be a woman, with shopping bags and a child in tow.

While I understand that crimes are no fault of ours, we can do our part to prevent them.

Also, I notice some women love to deck themselves with plenty of gold.

I am sure you are proud of your gold collection, but that does not mean you have to flaunt it.

If you really have to use that much gold, make sure it is in a safe surrounding and not when you are using public transport.

I am sure that if we put in some extra effort and make it hard for criminals, we can help reduce such incidents.
